Cancer Exercise Programs

Supporting strength, function, and wellbeing through all stages of cancer treatment

Cancer treatment is physically demanding—whether you’re undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, or all of the above. Fatigue, weakness, pain, and reduced mobility are common, but the evidence is strong to support exercise prescription to prevent and minimise these side effects.

At Restore Oncology Care, our certified oncology physiotherapists and exercise physiologists are specially trained in cancer rehabilitation. Drawing on evidence-based methods, we deliver personalised, safe, and targeted exercise support to people diagnosed with cancer.

Why Exercise is Essential During and After Cancer Treatment

Exercise isn’t just safe during cancer treatment—it’s essential.  Research shows it can:

  • Reduce treatment-related side effects
  • Improve strength, mood, and sleep
  • Prevent deconditioning
  • Support immune function
  • Increase cancer survival and reduce recurrence
  • Suppress the tumour environment and growth

A 2017 review of over 100 global studies found that regular exercise reduced cancer-related mortality by up to 44%, and recurrence risk by up to 33%.

The recommendation? 150 minutes of moderate activity per week, plus 2–3 resistance training sessions.
