Telehealth – how it works

It is with no doubt that everyone is having to change the way they work, communicate and go about their daily lives during COVID-19.  We understand that your health is forever changing and it is important that you still have access to a physiotherapist throughout this unknown time.  We too are changing the way we deliver our services so we can continue to provide the high quality of care that you know from the comfort of your own home.

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is essentially an online video consultation.  It enables us to provide quality assessment and care to those who are self isolating during COVID-19 and those who are in rural or remote areas without any contact with a lymphoedema specialised therapist.

How will it work?

Telehealth consults will be conducted through an easy, safe and secure online program.  These can be accessed free of charge via your laptop or mobile device.  A link will be sent to you via email prior to your organised consult time and you will click on this to join the appointment with your physiotherapist.  You will also answer a few background questions about your condition or injury prior to your online consultation so we can have a thorough understanding of what you are experiencing.

Traditionally physiotherapy has been seen as a very ‘hands on’ profession, however a lot of what we do is based around putting together the information you tell us, how you move and the appearance of the body part in question, so we can form a diagnosis.  We can then provide education on how to manage your symptoms as well as prescribe a tailored rehabilitation program to help you regain your previous level of function

What if I need to see you in person?

After our initial consultation, we will be able to decide if you will require a period of more intense therapy in a face-to-face setting.  This may be the case for some clients whose lymphoedema is not under control and needs reducing.

How can I organise a Telehealth consult?

We are looking forward to helping you via Telehealth and it couldn’t be easier to book in with us.  You can book an appointment here (create link) or call us on 0421 560 029.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
